Announcing "Inside, Outside, Upside-Down" Exhibit

Join us in our second virtual community art exhibit. Keep art alive in Broward!

During this Era of Social Distancing, when art lovers are deprived of up-close interactions with artwork, the New Pelican, in partnership with Broward Art Guild, is bringing an exhibit to the public in a fresh way: online and in print. You'll be able to vote online for your favorite piece. Prices will be displayed, and we encourage you to buy artwork to support our local artists. Winners will be featured in online and print editions of the New Pelican.

For the public:

Vote for your favorite artwork. (Artists, you can vote too!) Voting will take place from June 29 to July 13. Go to newpelican.com and sign in with your email address to insure one person, one vote. Top vote getter will be awarded "People's Choice" and featured in the July 3 print and online editions on the New Pelican.

For artists:

This is an open-theme exhibit, with a nudge. During this time, some of us look longingly through our windows, get outside whenever we can, or fondly remember our earlier lives. Some revel in our home surroundings. And some go inside our minds and generate fantasy worlds. We look forward to seeing all of these interpreted in art. Pieces need not have been created during the confinement period.

BAG members and nonmembers alike are invited to send JPG images of your best artwork - open theme, open medium - using the link below. You can submit up to three images, with a modest entry fee of $10 per image, which will help keep the Guild stay afloat until we can reopen its doors. Submission dates are May 29 through June 12.

As with Broward Art Guild gallery exhibits, entries will be judged by a professional judge. The top 50 will be displayed online at the New Pelican's website, and the 9 award winners will be featured in the paper's online and print editions. Along with the People's Choice, the judge's top 8 pieces will be featured in print and online: best in show, second and third places, four honorable mentions, and a "judge's recognition."

In addition to being published along with the rest of the winners, the best in show, second and third place winners also receive entry vouchers to use at a future gallery exhibit at the Broward Art Guild.

TIMELINE:

ONLINE ENTRY PERIOD: May 29 - June 12

PEOPLE'S CHOICE VOTING: Entries will be available for "People's Choice" vote starting on June 29 and closing out on July 13

WINNERS will be printed in the July 17 edition of the New Pelican, and on both of our websites.
