ArtFlorida Competition & Exhibition - 2012

ArtFlorida is a celebration of excellence in art, and is a juried exhibition recognizing some of the top artists in Florida.
With a top award of $2,000 for "Best in Show", $200 prizes for the five best of category winners, and $100 prizes for five Judge's Recognition awards, the Broward Art Guild is proud to announce that entry is now open!
Art | Florida | 2012 will be exhibited at the JM Family Enterprises Gallery at ArtServe, located at 1350 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304 from March 26th through April 13th, 2012. The gala awards reception will be held on Saturday, March 31st, 2012, from 6 - 9 p.m.
Artists not selected for Art | Florida | 2012 are automatically juried for selection in the traditionally festive "Salon des Refusés" Exhibit, which will be hosted at the Broward Art Guild Gallery, located at 3280 NE 32nd Street in Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308 from April 4th through 20th, 2012. The Salon's reception will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2012 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. It is the intention of the Broward Art Guild that all participating artists be represented by at least one of their works displaying in either Art | Florida | 2012 or the Salon, however, due to space limitations final selections will be determined by the applicable jurying process.
About The Juror Carol Damian
Professor, Director and Chief Curator, Frost Art Museum
Dr. Carol Damian is Professor of Art History in the School of Art and Art History and Director of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University. She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and received her MA in Pre-Columbian Art and her Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Miami. She is the author of The Virgin of the Andes: Art and Ritual in Colonial Cuzco (Grassfield Press, 1995) and is the Miami correspondent for Art Nexus and Arte al Dia. She lectures frequently on Latin American and Caribbean art, and has curated numerous exhibitions.

Painting, Drawing, and Print Making
No giclees or reproductions allowed.
Sculpture and 3-D Work
Traditional sculpture and any works unable to be hung on the wall within the 2-D requirements.
Photography
Including digital photography, in a traditional photographic manner.
Any digital manipulation outside of the realm of traditional retouching will be considered computer and electronic Art.
Mixed Media and Collage
Including but not limited to collage.
No electronic works. (These fall into Computer and Electronic Art Category)
Computer and Electronic Art
Includes computer-created works, video works and digital photographs manipulated beyond traditional photography.
